As a mom I often find myself longing for some mystical place where I am able to eat my meals while it’s still warm, somewhere I can actually finish a cup a coffee while the kids are happily jumping and climbing and sliding away and I am able to keep an eye on them, with them completely oblivious to my existence at that moment. So, you can only imagine my delight when I happened upon this gem while out with my brood one rainy Sunday morning.
When Blasters opened its doors in Cape Town, early July, it became the answer to many a parent (especially moms’) prayers. Although a paradise for moms and tots, it also promises lots of excitement for the whole family. When asked what restaurants Blasters can be compared to, one staff member confidently points out: “Nothing compares. Blasters is not only a place people come to eat, watch the kids play a little and then go. On average families spend about 4 hours here. Here’s something for everyone”. Besides the popular play area for babies and tots, creating the impression you’ve just landed at the bottom of the ocean, there’s the upstairs sports bar with spacious restaurant, cigar lounge and pool area.
Blasters are also popular for their birthday parties for young and old.
Although the Cape Town branch is still in its baby stage, its much older sister in Mossel bay, already boasts a fully functional crèche, and if you just need a break for a day, you can also drop off the kids at Blasters at a minimal fee (definitely cheaper than a nanny) or if you have something special planned for the evening, they even offer sleep-overs for the little ones! The Cape Town branch may not have these farcicalities yet, but there are talks that Blasters might be expanding to all over the country. Let’s hold thumbs!!
The fun never stops with Blasters it seems! Mossel Bay also offers many other activities such as putt-putt, a braai terrace and roller blading – to mention but a few! For a good time with the family, good food at good prices, friendly staff and lots of relaxation, this is definitely the place to be. “But, mostly we feel that Blasters helps develop children’s social skills, which we all know will be a big advantage to them when they grow up”, says co-owner Samantha Pirie.
